A Napoleonic extravaganza was hosted at the club this evening with the arch rivals - the French and Austrians - taking to the stage. Despite poor morale within the senior Austrian command cadre (caused by poor deployment decisions and even worse command and control dice), the initially laclustre Austro-Hungarians pulled themselves together to order their cuirassier brigade to sweep over the French Hussars on their left flank. On the French left flank, a brigade of allied Saxons formed squares to effeciently see off marauding French dragoons. In the centre, the Austrians eventually got the better of their counterparts to secure a convincing win.

Yes, like all Austrian units in this period that carry standards [the Light cavalry don't], the Leib Squadron/Battalion has a white colour and all others have yellow. The exact design on the colour would have varied as old colours are usually kept until they wear out. In particular the 'new 1806 pattern appears to have been very rare.
ReplyDeleteI should add that the senior colour should be on the right or in the lead, but the Austria cavalry commander had a club foot in this respect.
