WWII Burma - "The Race to Rangoon"

The XIVth Army race to clear the battlefield of diehard Japanese defenders and make their way to Rangoon, for a well deserved Scotch and Soda, before closing time at the bar of the Strand Hotel (if the Japanese haven't destroyed the famous hostelry during their dastardly occupation!).

Despite losing a Lee tank to a well dug-in Chi-Ha, and an India Pattern Carrier to a well placed 47mm A/T gun, the British kept their cool and winkled out the Japanese defenders, helped by the fact that the Japanese were prone to launching suicidal Banzai charges, rather than holding their defensive their positions.

WWII Burma - "It Ain't Half Hot Mum"

Another romp around Burma in which British Empire troops perform a classic close support operation between infantry, armour and artillery, to winkle out some stubborn Japanese defenders. All undertaken effectively, before everyone returned to camp to enjoy some light entertainment and comedy 'skits', admirably performed by the Royal Artillery Concert Party.

Once again we see the Queen of the Battlefield - General Lee tanks - take centre stage, along with some useful recce provided with Indian Pattern Wheeled Carriers.

Burma WWII - "The Road to Mandalay"

Another online club game, this time set in Burma in 1945.

The British are tasked with clearing some stubborn Japanese defenders on the drive to Mandalay. They have a half squadron of Lees, a battalion of Gurkhas and a battery of Royal Artillery 25pdrs to complete the task. The Japanese have 2 depleted infantry battalions dug in and a company of Chi Ha tanks to frustrate the British. The rules used were Rapid Fire. Unbelievably, the game was decided on a double six role, enabling a Chi Ha to KO a Lee which determined the game in the Japanese favour.

[Please note that there probably weren’t any (or very few) historical encounters between Lees and Chi Has in WWII – certainly not any in which a Chi Ha gets the better of a Lee!]
