"Hurrah! For the Bonnie Blue Flag!" - Franklin-Nashville Campaign, 1864

This game was very loosely based on one of the battles at the start of Hood's ill-fated (to say the least) Franklin-Nashville Campaign. The Confederates are attempting to cut Sherman's supply lines to Atlanta as he commences his 'March To the Sea".

In our scenario the Confederate cavalry attacks a Federal supply base, whilst the bulk of the Confederate force attempts to overwhelm some hastily prepared defensive lines. This must be achieved before the Union reinforcements arrive.

In the end, the Union reinforcements arrived in good order, ensuring that the Confederates didn't really achieve superiority in either sector of the battlefield. In one brief action C.S.A infantry almost overwhelmed some inferior Union infantry that were defending a prepared position, but where thrust back down the hill by the surprisingly stubborn defenders. That was their one opportunity to strike for victory, but it wasn't to be.....

Blood Thirsty Encounters

On a far away frontier planet two gangs of desperadoes search an abandoned settlement for supplies. In their frantic and violet hunt for loot, they are hampered by roaming herds of afflicted zombies.

Using Osprey's Xenos Rampant rules, a blood thirsty mob of unemployed butchers easily defeated a clan of Chaos Cultists.

Dark Ages - Pillage

A brace of games set in the Dark Ages using the 'Pillage' skirmish rules system and scenarios. One game saw the Vikings see off a raiding party of Saxons; the other a deadly struggle between two competing clans of Rus.

These rules have proven to be popular at the club, partly because the game play mechanisms are relatively straightforward. The key to the games are the scenario settings provided in the rule book, which seem to keep players entertained for an evening's gaming.

Austro-Prussian War, 1866 - Battle of Kissingen

The Austro-Prussian War - without any Austrians! The battle of Kissingen took place during the little known Campaign of the Main in west and south Germany. In short, most of the smaller German states - Hanover, Bavaria, Württemberg etc - lined up with the Austrians in this war.

In our refight, the Bavarians morale eventually cracked and they withdrew, leaving the battlefield to the Prussians. Very much like what happened in the real battle.
