Forcing the Pass Scenario - Midgard

In an epic confrontation between a Viking army and a "Goth-ish" type Dark Age army. The game wasn't settled until the last roll of the dice.

Highlights included:

1. An enslaved Ogre Champion slaying a Viking minor hero in personal combat before the battle.

2. A Gothic minor hero being cut down in the first cavalry charge.

3. Waves of horse flesh crashing upon the defended high ground.

4. The Viking Huscarls, with their commander, charging successfully several times to keep their army in the match

4. On the last roll of the dice, the Viking commander was slain, resulting in the Viking force disintegrating.

This one really could have gone either way. The Goths were down to just 3 reputation points at the end. All in all, very entertaining.

Dropfleet Commander - Daytime Assault

More images of this orbital warfare game which is simple enough to get the hang of easily, but mutli-layered enough to provide an excellent strategic brain-teaser of a wargame.

And another game:

Fighting the Mahdi in the Desert

Back to the Sudan this evening with a British force being ambushed by some Dervishes. This scenario was from Osprey's 'Men Who Would Be Kings' rules. In both games the Britsh held out and annihalated the waves of Mahdist ambushers

WWII - Early and Late War Games

Two WWII games this evening. One set in the Polish Campaign of 1939 using Rapid Fire! rules, the second a late war game using 'Arc of Fire'. The Arc of Fire rule set hasn't been seen at the club for quite a few years now, but the players seemed to have reminded themselves as to what a decent set of rules they really are.

"Fall Weiss" - Poland, 1939

The Czech built Panzer 35(t) makes an appearance on the battlefield.
