French Indian Wars - A Very Watery Scenario

The French, with their Indian allies, had to defend a waterside stockade from an attack by the British and their native allies. Somehow a tribe of "Indians" (that looked more like they were from the Caribbean), managed to annihilate the British Indians with a waterborne rear attack, whilst the French held up the advancing British in an effective fighting withdrawal. The British Regulars spent the whole day marching across the battlefield, not managing to fire a single shot in anger!

Midgard - Byzantines vs Vikings

Another Midgard clash with an army of Byzantines taking on a force of Vikings. The Varangian Guards seemed to barrel through everything, and the Byzantine cavalry won convincingly on their flank, putting the Norsemen to flight.

Napoleonics - A Prussian and Russian Victory

An allied force of Russians and Prussians drove the French from a strong position on high ground. In reality the victory was achieved through the hard work of the Russian infantry, who successfully took the hill, whilst a regiment of Prussian Hussars routed two regiments of poorly deployed French Dragoons. The Prussian infantry, in contrast, just went on some parade ground manoeuvres, managing to avoid firing a single shot in anger.

Age of Sigmar - Ogors vs Stormcast Eternals

A bloody match up between the gluttonous Ogor Mawtribes and the Stormcast Eternals. The Stormcasts won a narrow victory on points. Despite loosing more of their army, the ability to deploy half of their units off table for later deployment, enabled the Stormcasts to appear in the rear of the Ogors, taking hold of their enemy's home objectives.

Franco-Prussian War - Une Retraite Française Héroïque

An Heroic French Retreat

In this entertaining scenario, the French were in retreat. They had hurriedly prepared defensive positions around a village and were trying to make their escape off table. They were hotly pursued by a brigade of Prussian infantry with attached artillery batteries. Meanwhile their escape route was to be blocked by a regiment of beautifully attired Bavarians.

The French held the Prussians off admirably. A unit of Zouaves performed heroics in defence, being wiped out almost to the last man. A French line battalion made a well executed fighting retreat to the relative safety of a walled garden under heavy rifle and artillery fire. A regiment of Hussars 'demonstrated' in front of the advancing Prussians and, after losing one third of their number, decided to make a 'charge to the rear'.

Ultimately the Prussians - and their slightly less enthusiastic Bavarian allies - kept up the pressure and forced the Second Empire defensive ring further in on itself, winning the day for the pursuers.

As a postscript, the shattered Hussars did manage to hurriedly escort the French commander off the board to avoid capture, which was, perhaps, a much less finale héroïque to the engagement than had been hoped for.
