Ancient Warfare in Classical Greece

This encounter witnessed a fictional clash between the 'Argiven Coalition' and the Peloponnesian League for control of the Temple of Pandemicos during the very bad tempered 'Vaccine War' of the early 4th Century BC:

  2. Pretty! What ancient wargamer/enthusiast can resist "the push" of a hoplite battle? Was wondering if you could provide more details or information about the pictured engagement. What rules were used? How did it turn out? What can you tell us about the figures? Thanks for posting.

  3. The engagement was completely fictional. We used a set of home made rules that combines parts of other rules that we like and ensures fast play to enable us to finish a game in 2 hours or so.
In this game, the flanks were respectively stripped of light troops (which never really made much of an impact on the game). The higher quality of the Spartans shone through, earning them a 'winning draw'.
The figures are either from the 28mm Victrix or Wargames Foundry 'World of The Greeks' ranges. These two excellent ranges are compatible with one another in terms of size etc.
